Lord Oxburgh of Liverpool KBE FRS

Lord Oxburgh of Liverpool is a long-standing public advocate of the need to address climate change issues. He served as the Non-Executive Chairman of Shell Transport and Trading plc from 2004 to 2005. As a UK Parliamentarian, he chaired the Parliamentary Science and Technology Select Committee from 2001 to 2004, and is Vice-Chairman of the Globe UK Group. Lord Oxburgh was Rector of Imperial College London from 1993 to 2001. He is a former Chief Scientific Adviser to the Ministry of Defence. Lord Oxburgh is also an adviser to Climate Change Capital. He is currently Chairman of the Carbon Capture and Storage Association and of Falck Renewables.

Elliott Mannis

Elliott Mannis joined D1 in 2005 as Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary and was appointed as Chief Executive Officer in January 2006. Elliott was the Group Finance Director at AWG Plc, the parent company of Anglian Water, for six years prior to joining D1. He has also held senior positions, including Group Financial Controller, at Aegis Group plc, where he worked from 1993 to 1998. Before joining Aegis, Elliott spent nine years at Price Waterhouse, initially in Vancouver, Canada, and subsequently in London.

Ben Good

Finance and Commercial Director, 43

Ben Good has held a variety of senior positions in financial and commercial management, corporate finance and business development. Having started his career in strategy consulting, he joined AWG Plc, the parent company of Anglian Water, where at different times he held the roles of Director of Finance and Planning, Commercial Director and Projects Director. Ben was also Head of Projects at British Nuclear Group.

Dr Henk Joos

Henk Joos joined D1 as Agronomy Director in September 2006 and now heads D1 Oils Plant Science Limited, the exclusive supplier of Jatropha curcas material to D1-BP Fuel Crops Limited. Henk has over twenty years of experience in commercial research and development and project management in the fields of plant breeding and genetics. He began his business career with Plant Genetic Systems in Belgium in 1986 and founded the global ‘In Vigor’ canola breeding programme in the early 1990’s, which formed the basis for Bayer CropScience’s global leadership in canola crop production. He became the Global Head of Breeding and Product Development at Aventis CropScience in 2000, supervising activities in corn, soybean, cotton, canola, rice and various tropical crops in 20 different temperate and tropical countries. In 2002, the year Bayer CropScience was formed through Bayer’s acquisition of Aventis, he was appointed Head of Molecular & Biochemical Analytical Services, and reorganised the analytical and quality control laboratories of Bayer CropScience worldwide. He holds a Ph.D. in Biology (Genetics) from the University of Ghent.

Dr. Clive Morton OBE

Dr Clive Morton is Chairman of Dermasalve Sciences PLC, Chairman of Sabien Technology Group PLC and Professor at Middlesex University Business School. He is the founder of the Morton Partnership and a past member of the DTI Partnership Panel. Until recently Clive was Chairman of Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He is formerly Business Development Director at Anglian Water International, and during his career has held the position of Personnel Director at Northern Electric Plc, Rolls-Royce Industrial Power Group, Anglian Water Plc and Komatsu UK Ltd. He holds a PhD in Industrial Relations from the London School of Economics.

Barclay Forrest OBE, FRAGS

Non-Executive Director, 66

Barclay Forrest is a Scottish farmer. He was a founding committee member of British Cereal Exports. His many public appointments, have included Vice President of the Scottish National Farmers' Union (1981), Chairman of British Cereal Exports (1995 - 2000) and Chairman of the Oxford Farming Conference (2004). Barclay is currently Vice President of the China Britain Business Council (CBBC) and a Non-Executive Director of Helius Energy Plc and the China Global Investment Fund (CGIF).

Professor Christopher Leaver CBE, FRSE, FRS

Non-Executive Director, 65

Chris Leaver, Emeritus Professor of Plant Science at the University of Oxford, is a leading expert in the understanding of the molecular and biochemical basis of plant growth and differentiation. He was Sibthorpian Professor and head of Department of Plant Science at Oxford University from 1990-2007. He is a Visiting Professor at the University of Western Australia and a Fellow of the Royal Society.

Moira Black CBE

Non-Executive Director, 57

Moira Black has had an active and distinguished career in accountancy and public services. She is currently Chairman of The North West London Hospitals NHS Trust and a Non-Executive Director of Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S), the procurement and support organisation within the UK Ministry of Defence. She is also Chairman of the DE&S Audit Committee, an independent Director of The Payments Council and a Member of the General Optical Council and its Honorary Treasurer. Moira qualified as a chartered accountant with Price Waterhouse.

Brian Myerson

Non-Executive Director, 49

Brian is Chief Executive Officer of Principle Capital Group, whose managed funds are significant shareholders in D1. Brian co-founded Principle Capital in November 2004 and has been a director of several listed UK companies, including Greycoat plc (1994 to 1996) and Marylebone Warwick Balfour Group Plc (2002 to 2005), where he was Chairman. He was also a Non-Executive Director of Sage Group, a South African listed life assurance and financial services business, from 2003 to 2004.
