D1 Oils Plant Science Limited
D1 Oils Plant Science Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of D1 Oils plc.The activities of this business are comprised of R&D, plant science, planting seed and seed multiplication. The company is responsible for D1's regional development centres (RDCs) located in key planting locations. D1 has established RDCs in India, Thailand and Zambia.
The mission of D1 Oils Plant Science is to create value through the application of state of the art plant science and agronomy principles to selected biodiesel feedstock species, particularly Jatropha curcas.
The company intends to apply plant science and agronomy techniques to achieve the following:
- To select one or more non-edible feedstock plant species which can be used to produce biodiesel sustainably on a global basis
- To establish a reliable and growing supply chain of seed grain and oil as a source of biodiesel feedstock
- To improve the oil yield per hectare
- To optimise oil quality to create an optimum feedstock source for the production of different biodiesel products
- To optimise the by-products produced from the feedstock cultivation and expelling process
- To establish a scientific knowledge base to support D1’s plantation partners
