Barclay Forrest OBE, FRAGS

Barclay Forrest is a Scottish farmer. He was a founding committee member of British Cereal Exports. His many public appointments, have included Vice President of the Scottish National Farmers' Union (1981), Chairman of British Cereal Exports (1995 - 2000), Chairman of the Oxford Farming Conference (2004) and Vice President of the China Britain Business Council (CBBC). Barclay is Chairman of Helius Energy Plc.

Ben Good

Chief Executive Officer and Finance Director, 45

Prior to joining D1 in 2007, Ben Good held a variety of senior positions in financial and commercial management, corporate finance and business development. Having started his career in strategy consulting, he joined AWG Plc, the parent company of Anglian Water, where at different times he held the roles of Director of Finance and Planning, Commercial Director and Projects Director. Ben was also Head of Projects at British Nuclear Group. Ben was appointed as Finance and Commercial Director of D1 in May 2008 and Chief Executive Officer in December 2008.

Dr Henk Joos

Plant Science Director, 51

Henk Joos joined D1 as Agronomy Director in September 2006. Henk has over twenty years of experience in commercial research and development and project management in the fields of plant breeding and genetics. He began his business career with Plant Genetic Systems in Belgium in 1986 and founded the global ‘In Vigor’ canola breeding programme in the early 1990’s, which formed the basis for Bayer CropScience’s global leadership in canola crop production. He became the Global Head of Breeding and Product Development at Aventis CropScience in 2000, supervising activities in corn, soybean, cotton, canola, rice and various tropical crops in 20 different temperate and tropical countries. In 2002, the year Bayer CropScience was formed through Bayer’s acquisition of Aventis, he was appointed Head of Molecular & Biochemical Analytical Services, and reorganised the analytical and quality control laboratories of Bayer CropScience worldwide. He holds a Ph.D. in Biology (Genetics) from the University of Ghent.

Martin Jarvis

Martin Jarvis was formerly Chief Operating Officer and the Chief Executive Officer of D1-BP Fuel Crops Limited. Martin’s earlier career includes 23 years at Unilever in a range of international manufacturing and supply chain management roles, including Global Supply Chain VP, with responsibilities throughout Asia, Africa and Europe.

Nicholas Ward

Non-Executive Director, 68

Nicholas Ward has wide-ranging business experience including board level positions in a number of listed (on AIM and elsewhere) and private equity held companies. He has a particular expertise in helping businesses to restructure and to optimise their performance and value. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a Fellow of the Society of Turnaround Professionals. From 1998-2007, Nicholas was chairman of ADAS Holdings ltd, the agricultural & environmental research & consultancy business that was formerly part of DEFRA.
